Andy Irons passes away en route to Hawaii

It has been confirmed that Andy Irons died on Tuesday. Andy was suffering from Dengue fever and passed away in his hotel room in Texas whilst traveling to Hawaii from Puerto Rico where he was forced to miss round 1 and 2 of the ASP Mens tour. It is believed that his death was caused by his illness.

Andy was arguably one of the strongest surfers in the early 2000’s, winning the ASP World Tour three times during that period. He was recognized as one of the only surfers able to rival the nine times world champion Kelly Slater, gaining a total of 20 victories.

He leaves behind his pregnant wife, Lyndie Dupuis.
