Foo Fighters set to return with attitude

They’ve been accused of turning into ‘coffee table rock’, shifting away from the more raw sounds of their earlier work. It seems that hanging out with Josh Homme and John Paul Jones might have had quite an effect on Foo Fighter’s front man, Dave Grohl.

There’s no doubt about the anticipation of their seventh album, out on April 12th on Roswell/RCA. A snippet of the opening track “Bridge Burning” surpassed 500,000 plays in one week, and yesterday we were treated with a video for “White Limo” starring none other than the rock legend Lemmy. In one day the video’s up to 250,000 plays.

Grohl promised this album was going to be the heaviest Foo Fighters album yet. We’d heard it before, the same was said about In Your Honor which disappointed many fans. If the samples from their upcoming and as of yet untitled album are anything to go by, those boys are about to deliver.

“White Limo” released on youtube yesterday is raw to the bone with screaming lyrics and edgy guitar sounds but maintains the rolling energy Foo Fighters have been known for. Its a far cry from the ballads of the past, I’m a fan of this return to the heavier side of rock, long may it last.

Head over to www.foofighters.fm and move the virtual tuner to 101.5 for a taste of “Burning Bridge”.
