Event organizers called a lay day today for the Quiksilver Pro France with only small one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) surf on offer at the primary venue of La Gravière, Hossegor.
Event No. 8 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Quiksilver Pro France recommences the thrilling battle for the ASP World Title amongst the world’s best surfers.
Miky Picon, the Quiksilver Pro France contest director asked the surfers to convene tomorrow morning at 7:45am for a possible 8am start.
When competition starts, up first will be Jeremy Flores (FRA), 23, Matt Wilkinson (AUS), 22, and Taylor Knox (USA), 40, in Heat 1 of Round 1.
Today, the first round of the Quiksilver King of the Groms was run at La Gravière. 18 surfers, qualified from the global King of the Groms tour are in Hossegor to crown the best world’s surfer of 16 and under. Among today’s winner are : the young Italian prodigy Leo Fioravanti (13), Victor Bernardo (Bra) and Natxo Gonzalez (Euk), who got the best score (16,43 out of 20).
