The superstars of the wakeboard and wakeskate scene turned the outdoor swimming pool of the “Stadionbad” in Cologne into a boiling freestyle arena with rainy chaos and perfect sunshine in turn. A crowd of over 8.000 people in spitting distance could cheer on the best of the scene and felt the water splash as the wakeboarders and wakeskaters passed by.

18-year old German Nico von Lerchenfeld took first place, ahead of Shawn Watson (USA) and Keith Lidberg (USA) in the wakeboarding discipline.

In the wakeskating discipline, where the riders stand on the board without a binding, 13-year old Daniel Grant from Thailand amazed everyone when he first hit the course. He turned into the ultimate wakeskating maching and outperformed big names such as Nick Taylor (USA) and Leo Labadens (FRA).

In his final run, Grant exploded and laid down the best line of the day, which secured him the first place! Second place went to last year’s winner Jan Kissmann (GER), who got followed by Andy Kolb (GER).

Daniel Grant also became the Overall Winner of the event, because he was the only rider who competed in both disciplines.

For the world’s biggest wakeboarding and wakeskating event O’Neill Wake The Line the three Olympic-size swimming pools were turned into an extraordinary freestyle playing field. The three swimming pools of the Stadionbad Cologne were connected to an exceptional 300-metre course with impressive obstacles like kickers, rails and bonks. The wakeboarders and wakeskaters were towed by a two-mast cable lift system that is unique in the world and enabled them to ride the swimming pools bi-directionally.
