The big event is this week, SEA SESSIONS SURF MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011 would like to announce the names of some of the talented chargers that will be representing at Irelands first ever Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP Europe) speciality event. The Sea Sessions annual Quiksilver Expression Session line-up is almost complete and will see Irelands top surfers take on some of the best in Europe right on the shores of Donegal.
The competition offers the local young rippers the opportunity to gain international exposure, the chance to win €5000 prize money, plus a wildcard entry to the Relentless Boardmasters at Newquay in August. To win they must demonstrate the most innovative and creative surfing moves.
The Irish charge will be lead by Cain Kilcullen, two-time previous competition winner, followed by main event participants Aaron Reid (Strandhill/Bundoran), Ronan Oertzen (Spain/Bundoran), Ollie O’Flaherty (Lahinch), Damien Conway (Lahinch), Hugh Galloway (Tramore) and Stephen Kilfeather (Strandhill). The overseas crew will be putting it up to the home-grown talent by being strongly represented by Cornwall favourites Alan Stokes, Oli Adams and Jayce Robinson, including the Devon lads Lynton Wake and Tom Good, plus the Welsh boys Carwyn Williams, Nathan Phillips and lastly but far from least the Reunion Island air master Damien Chaudoy.
The event will have room for five wild card entries that make it through the trials event. Easkey Britton, the only women in the trials, will aim to knock a few egos especially after her confidence boosting Billabong XXL nomination.
The Quiksilver Expression Sessions will take place when and where the surf is best with a waiting period from Friday 24th till Monday 27th June. We will let everybody know the event is on via our Facebook page and smart phone App. The Sea Sessions film crew will be in the water and on land recording all the action so that the historic surf event can be broadcast to screens placed around the festival site, so no one will miss a thing.
