Rogue Mag Motorsport - Thoughts on Mark Buckley and final prep for the TT

I would like to start by saying how deeply saddened I am to hear of the loss of Mark Buckley’s life while competing at the North West 200 this weekend, I had the pleasure of racing with him on several occasions- he was always the one I set my sights on at the southern 100, always just one or two places ahead of me. He was a genuinely great guy, a great racer, and it is a tragic loss. My thoughts go out to his wife, family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

I can’t believe how quickly the season has got underway again, and how quickly it’s passing. It’s less than a week until TT practice now, and being Island residents we will be the early birds and start to take our set up into the paddock mid week – so really it starts for us in only three days time. I feel ready for it.

We couldn’t make the Northwest 200 as we were a little late off the mark with sponsorship this year so things have been too tight to travel, but it’s all come good at the last minute – we’ve had a couple of good financial sponsors contribute just in the nick of time. Without these people (Black Horse Finance and GalileoFS ) we would really have struggled to enter the TT. Thank you guys.

It has been all hands on deck here getting the bike ready for testing – and finally the blade is up and running and ready to go. We had the opportunity to get up to the local circuit today to take the newly completed bike out for its first(!) and last(!!!) ride before going down Bray hill for the first time next week. Testing went really well, and we didn’t have to do any major adjustments at all – just a few tweaks on the traction control and it was near on perfect. Very pleasing for the first time on it! Being my own mechanic again has been challenging after last year when we had BSB level support. The hours I have put in recently have been unbelievable, It has been a real challenge to get the bike up to scratch but I am so happy with it and its set up, I just couldn’t be more confident.

The TT is daunting, it’s a big meeting that involves a lot of people and planning, it is going to be a challenge from many aspects and it’s going to take my all from start to finish. The 600 ride I was scheduled to start number 27 on has had to take a back seat due again to finances, I am riding number 45 in the three big races, and have a distinctive 3legs.com logo on the main bike so keep your eyes peeled for me.
