Brooklyn’s We Are Augustines have recorded a Bob Dylan cover for inclusion on “Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honouring 50 Years of Amnesty International” to be released in the US on January 24th, 2012

The 3-piece chose to record their own version of a classic Dylan song and are included alongside over 80 well known music artists such as Pete Townshend, Patti Smith, Sting, Queens of the Stoneage, My Morning Jacket, Bryan Ferry, Lenny Kravitz, Ke$ha, Elvis Costello and many more.

Speaking on the release, singer Billy McCarthy says: “We are honored to support “Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International” Over 80 artists were asked to cover a Bob Dylan song, many of them our heroes. We chose and recorded “Mama You’ve Been On My Mind” in late summer. This is a huge deal to the band, Please join us in supporting Amnesty International and their tireless efforts for human rights around the world.”

All of the proceeds will go towards helping Amnesty International USA fight against censorship and attacks on free speech.

Following a huge reaction to their debut single ‘Book of James’ this November and an oversubscribed single launch show at East London’s Queen of Hoxton venue , We Are Augustines return to the UK to play a show as guests at XFM’s prestigious annual event, Winter Wonderland. Featuring a stellar line-up of some of the most exciting acts around, the premier event is scheduled to take place at the O2 Brixton Academy on Wednesday 14th December.
