Little Roy has announced details of the release of a new single. Lithium will be released through Ark Recordings on Monday December 5th 2011. The single is lifted from his recent album with Prince Fatty and Mutant Hi-Fi, Battle For Seattle, a collection of 10 songs recorded by Nirvana covered by the legendary Little Roy in a reggae style.
Speaking ahead of his live date at London’s Scala on November 17th, Little Roy, has recorded a video message in support of the current Facebook campaign to beat X-Factor to the top spot and help push Nirvana’s classic hit ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ to the top of the UK singles chart.
In a recent video post, he says: “Let’s make it ‘Nirvana Christmas Spirit’ and support a Nirvana Christmas number one on Facebook. Kurt Cobain is a true legend, so let us be true to him and support his song. ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ for the Christmas number one!”
Following an acclaimed session on Jools Holland’s Later show in October where he played ‘Lithium’ and ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, Little Roy was recently praised by Noel Gallagher on Jo Whiley’s Sessions show who stated that Little Roy’s Nirvana covers were “probably the greatest thing I have ever heard”, and that he would entertain a reggae version of Oasis’ classic album ‘Definitely Maybe’.
The last remaining tickets for the Scala show are priced at £12.50 and are available via www.gigsandtours.com.
