Billy Corgan is Smashing Pumpkins, and he will not let you down. Personally I have been incredibly disappointed with the music I loved as a teenager, the bands are just not sounding the same anymore and it is as if they’ve changed genres. But on Monday night I was reminded that there are still some bands out there that remain timeless and will play you songs that will bring back memories pleasant or traumatic; each one sung as if especially for you.
Though I was a part of the media group, we were not allowed close to the stage, however throughout the concert it didn’t matter. No one was shoving you aside, the crowd simply stood transfixed and sung with Corgan. Couldn’t even fault the covers of Space Oddity and Along the Watchtower, which were pulled off very well with his whiny grunge vocals. Each song throughout the night would either have you singing along or listening with goose bumps.
The visual effects collated well with the performance and would sometimes have clips from the music videos. All around couldn’t fault the performance but next time you’re here, please play a larger venue like the MEN! (Manchester Arena -Ed)
