They had to wait a long time for snow here in Lech in Austria and then one day before probably the longest skiing race in Europe, more than 30 centimetres new snow fell. But the continuing snow fall contributed to making it impossible to run the race over the original 22 kilometre course with its 5500 metres difference in altitude. But the 1000 participants still had a race to compete in – a shortened one. But everybody agreed today’s course is none too easy. Among others, former international footballer Jens Lehmann (GER) is still sportsman through and through and hurtles off down the course. And former pro cyclist Jan (GER) has swapped his bike for skis.

The quickest man in a time one minute six seconds was Matthias Calovini (ITA). Behind him in second was Lucas Batlogg (AUT) and third was Heinz Kissling (AUT). And the fastest woman was the 19-year old Austrian, Alexandra Scherer. Second was Julia Stalling (AUT) and in third place was Carina Natter (AUT).
