Serena Mitnik-Miller is an artist, designer, photographer and curator living and working in the Outer Sunset district of San Francisco.
Serena combines her time painting, designing, collecting, and supporting her local artisan community. In the studio, Serena concentrates her time exploring geometric and ocean motifs as vehicles of expression. Her artwork is the result of an intuitive and spontaneous process, that often begins with an impression from the physical environment. Her proximity to the ocean and coastal habitats, combined with private thoughts often become symbolic, permanent points of reference.
Serena’s paintings are created by hand using watercolor pigment on paper. The compositions are fashioned by interconnecting patterns of color and concentric shapes where structures split, bubbles stack, and pyramids multiply. Each artwork must strike a balance between layers of color, repetitive contour lines, and the inherent qualities of the all the materials she employs.
